Meter Set Moratorium

**ATTENTION**

Harrison County Public Water Supply District #2 has experienced enormous growth and demand for our water and is operating at absolute maximum capacity.

In order to continue to provide for our current customers, and until more water is made available,

THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS HAS DECLARED EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY:

  • A moratorium on new meter sets. No new meters can be installed until current water capacity is increased.

  • No large numbers of animals can be added to use existing meters.

Any customer allowing another person to hook on to the meter serving them is in breech of the Water User Agreement Contract they signed with the District when their service was made available to them.

Any person violating any rules of the District may lose their current water meter set.

We are encouraging voluntary conservation at this time, so we do not have to enforce a water conservation order in the future.

Please understand that the District is actively working on new wells and transmission main lines to get more water to our treatment plant. Our treatment capacity is currently limited by the amount of water we can get into the plant. This problem was recognized long ago, and we have been steadily working on a solution to make more water available, but unfortunately the legal, technical, and financial process for a District is very lengthy. However, our goal remains the same: to continue to provide a reliable, safe water supply to present and future customers.
